Whitney US Contract 1861 Rifle-Musket

Whitneyville Musket, overall length 56″. This was a small contract with only 15,000 muskets delivered. Overall musket remains in as found, untouched and uncleaned attic condition. Metal is mostly dark overall with a chocolate brown patina. Barrel and lock are dated 1864. All markings and inspections are present. Stock is excellent with crisp sharp edges and 2 very nice inspectors cartouches.
