Sharps M-1859 Rifle with 36″ Barrel

Sharps Rifle with 36 inch barrel, 38xxx, State of Connecticut issued overall 53″ in very good condition. These rifles saw heavy use in the Civil War. Rifles were issued to 1st, 2nd and 4th Connecticut and later reissue to the 8th, 11th and 14th Regiments. All markings are present. Bore is fair, actions are fine. Metal is mostly dark gray with scattered light peppering throughout. The patchbox and butt plate have pitting.  Stocks are fine. Only 600 of these scarce Sharps Rifles were manufactured on contract for Egypt, but with the outbreak of war the entire contract was sold to the state of Connecticut.
