Sharps M-1863 Carbine # C,6289, ID’d by serial number to Edwin Goodwin Co. A 1st New Hampshire Vol. Cavalry. Carbine remains in very good condition showing honest use. Metal is mostly gray throughout with some scattered peppering. Bore and actions are fine. Lock is missing a screw on the inside, did not pull apart to look yet. All markings are present. Overall 39″. The 1st NH Cavalry was organized January of 1864. The unit was attached to the Cavalry Corps , Army of the Potamac. They saw lots of action until August when they were sent to join Phil Sheridans Army of the Shenandoah. From then on until the wars end they were continually on active duty, fighting in many skirmishes and battles. They mustered out July of 65.
