Nice Original Civil War Revolver Manufactured in 1861

This Colt M-1851 Navy Revolver sn 103xxx is ID’d to H.J. Gifford on back strap. Henry J. Gifford Enlisted on 4/25/1861 at Rochester, New York as a Drummer. He mustered into “A” Co. NY 13th Infantry and was discharged for promotion on 8/29/1861. On 8/29/1861 he was commissioned into “D” Co. NY 33rd Infantry and was transfered out on 10/1/1863. On 10/1/1863 he transfered into “F” Co. NY 49th Infantry and mustered out on 7/3/1865 at Hall’s Hill,VA. He was promoted to 2nd Lieut 5/27/1861. Promoted to 1st Lieut 8/29/1861 (as of Co.D 33rd NY Infantry) and promoted to Capt 2/5/1862. The unit histories can be found on the Soldiers & Saliors Database.
Revolver remains in fine overall condition with all matching numbers including the wedge. Actions are crisp and tight with a fine bore. Wood grips are excellent. Cylinder scene is very nice and mostly visable. Barrel address is perfect. A nice crisp revolver manufactured in 1861. Overall length 14″ with a 7 1/2″ barrel.
